Please note: Dimensions and weights are approximate. Each board is handmade from natural hardwood, so minor variations in size and weight may occur.

Each board is pre-conditioned with organic fractionated coconut oil to enhance its resilience from the inside out, then sealed with our 100% Natural Cutting Board Sealer for a smooth, durable, water-resistant finish. Built to last and made to handle it all, from fresh produce to meats.

Each cutting board is unique. Natural variations in color, grain pattern, and organic features such as mineral streaks or flecks add to each board’s character and make every piece truly one-of-a-kind.

Have a preference? If you love lots of natural character or prefer a more clean, uniform look, feel free to leave a note at checkout and we’ll do our best to select a board that matches your style. Because inventory changes and every slab is different, we can’t guarantee specific markings or grain patterns, but we’re always happy to try to accommodate when possible.

      Simple & Easy:

      • Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Mild soap can be used when needed.

      • Dry immediately; Allow board to dry upright for even drying.

      • Never soak or put in the dishwasher.

      • Keep your board water-resistant and durable with Nate & Kate’s 100% Natural
      Cutting Board Sealer
. Apply whenever your board looks dry or loses its
luster (or use any high-quality natural sealer you trust).

      • Your board is built to last. A little care goes a long way. Enjoy!

We truly love what we make and we think you’re going to love it too. But if for any reason you’re not completely happy, simply contact us within 30 days of your purchase and we’ll arrange a FREE return and full refund.

      FAQ

Yes — our boards are safe for meat, poultry, and fish. Wood is naturally antimicrobial, and research has shown that bacteria on wooden cutting boards die off faster than on plastic (Cliver, 1994, UC Davis).

After cutting raw meat, wash your board promptly with warm soapy water to avoid cross-contamination, then rinse and let it air dry upright (for even drying). Simple as that!

Some people prefer to have a separate dedicated meat board, but it's simply a matter of personal preference :)

Always follow safe food handling practices. While wood has natural antimicrobial properties, proper washing and care are still essential to food safety.

Both are excellent, durable hardwoods. While aesthetic tends to be the biggest factor for most, hardness and weight differ between the two as well. Here's how they compare:

      Hard maple

      • One of the hardest woods used in cutting boards
      • Denser, heavier wood
      • Shows less everyday wear over time
      • A timeless, classic hardwood with a light color tone and natural variation — see our product photos for examples

      Black walnut

      • A slightly softer wood than maple
      • Lighter-weight wood, preferred by some for easier handling and storage
      • Naturally hides staining due to its deeper color tone
      • A premium wood with a rich, dark color tone and a bold, luxurious look

Both woods are food-safe, naturally antimicrobial, sourced right here in the USA, and built to last.

If you'd prefer an unfinished board — raw wood, sanded smooth, with no oil or sealer applied — just leave a note at checkout letting us know! This option is only available for hard maple.

This is a great choice for those who want the rawest version possible, whether you simply prefer the natural feel or have sensitivities to specific finishing ingredients.

Your board is made from real, natural wood — so over time it will develop its own character, just like any solid wood surface. Here's what to expect:

      • Knife marks — a sign your board is well loved and well-used.
      • Staining — some foods stain more than others. This is part of using a natural board, and most stains fade or disappear completely with regular use.
      • Surface texture — because our boards are finished without chemicals, lacquers, or artificial adhesives, your board may have a bit of natural grain texture after the first wash or two. This is simply part of breaking in real wood — the surface will smooth out naturally with regular use. A natural board wax can help speed this along — Shop our board sealer
      • Peace of mind — only nature touches your food ♡

Made for our family. Shared with yours.

After searching endlessly for a wood cutting board we could actually trust, we realized that even boards marketed as “all-natural” still contained hidden chemicals like mineral oil, glue and adhesives.

So we decided to make our own — solid slab cutting boards that are truly natural and safe.
